Poor, balding, and weak, a dog dubbed the “werewolf” was seen for months by the roadside in Madera Ranchos, California. With patchy fur, mange, and a broken tail, he looked frightening, so no one dared to help—until one woman posted about him on Facebook and rescuer Megan Bowe stepped in.
“When I saw him, I was ready to cry,” Megan said. The “werewolf” turned out to be a one-year-old German shepherd mix in terrible health. She named him Kingand rushed him to the vet, where he was diagnosed with mange, a shattered pelvis, and severe malnutrition.
With isolation, careful feeding, and eventually surgery, King slowly recovered. His fur grew back, his strength returned, and his loving nature shone through. “He’s a super sweet dog,” Megan said, as King rested his head on her shoulder.
Today, King is happy—enjoying walks, car rides, and even doggy ice cream. Soon he’ll be ready for adoption, a far cry from the “werewolf” no one dared to approach. All it took was one person to stop, care, and give him a second chance
