Trump snubbed as María Corina Machado wins 2025 Nobel Peace Prize

Donald Trump thought he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.

But it was awarded to María Corina Machado from Venezuela instead.

Now, the world waits to see how the president will respond.

.

”I’ve ended six wars”

The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize has a new recipient — and it’s not Donald Trump.

Despite the president repeatedly insisting he deserved the honor, the prestigious award went to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado for her tireless fight for democracy in her country.

Trump, who has publicly claimed credit for ending multiple conflicts worldwide, has spent months drawing attention to himself as a potential contender for the prize.

During a February meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, he said:

”They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me.”

The 79-year-old president has often emphasized his diplomatic accomplishments, claiming that he has resolved conflicts without ceasefires. Speaking in August at a summit with Ukrainian and European leaders, Trump said:

“I’ve done six wars, I’ve ended six wars. If you look at the six deals I settled this year, they were all at war. I didn’t do any ceasefires.”

Topped international odds lists

In the lead-up to the announcement, Trump’s name frequently topped international odds lists after he claimed he “deserved” the award for his diplomatic efforts

Despite his insistence, the Nobel Prize for 2025 went to María Corina Machado.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced on X:

”The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the 2025 #NobelPeacePrize to Maria Corina Machado for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”

Machado is a Venezuelan politician and industrial engineer who has been a leading voice against President Nicolás Maduro’s regime.

Even after being banned from running for office and facing repeated threats, she has continued to push for democratic reforms and free elections in Venezuela. The award is expected to strengthen the opposition’s efforts, though it will likely provoke anger from Maduro’s government. The Nobel Prize ceremony is set for December 10 in Oslo, Norway.

Recent peace deal

The announcement comes as Trump continues to spotlight his own international diplomacy. The president has received widespread praise for his recent peace deal between Hamas and Israel.

“I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”

Israel is about to start partial troop withdrawals in Gaza, but overnight strikes suggest tensions remain high. Under the initial phase of the plan, about 55 percent of Gaza would remain under occupation, with later stages gradually reducing that to roughly 15 percent.
