Kristen Spencer’s 83-year-old father, William Eugene “Gene” Ray, went missing from his room at The Waverly Assisted Living and Memory Care in Trinity, Florida.
After checking the Ring camera she had installed in his room, Kristen noticed her father had left around 12:30 a.m. and had not returned. Hours later, Gene Ray was found dead inside a walk-in freezer at the facility.
Gene Ray was a retired U.S. Navy veteran who served his country for 36 years. Due to dementia, he moved into the assisted living facility in May, hoping to receive professional care and a safe environment.
