Rescuers Locate Final Missing Girl After Flood Sweeps Away 27 People

Texas Flood Tragedy at Camp Mystic

The floods that tore through central Texas claimed 27 lives, including campers at Camp Mystic on the Guadalupe River. After weeks of searching, the body of the last missing child was found five miles downstream, ending recovery efforts but leaving families with lingering questions.

The camp, once filled with summer activities, became a scene of chaos as cabins were submerged and dozens swept away. Though all victims have now been located, unusual items found with the final child—like a fabric scrap and beads not linked to the camp—have raised concerns and fueled speculation.

Across Texas, vigils and memorials honored the victims, while officials launched investigations into camp safety, flood preparedness, and the forensic evidence. Experts warn that extreme weather will only worsen, urging stronger infrastructure and emergency planning.

For families, closure remains elusive. As one parent said, “We may have found everyone, but we haven’t found peace.”
