At 14, Virsavia Borun defies the odds. Born with her heart outside her chest—a condition affecting just one in a million—doctors didn’t expect her to survive a day. Though her prognosis suggests she may not live past 30, her mother Dari believes otherwise.
Throughout pregnancy, doctors warned Virsavia might not survive, yet Dari chose hope. Today, she proudly shares photos of her daughter on Instagram, showing her open heart. Despite limitations, Virsavia stays active—dancing, drawing, riding ponies, and listening to Beyoncé—while protecting her heart with soft clothes and a breastplate.
Virsvia credits her survival not to miracles but to her mother’s love: “My mother believed; I don’t think it’s anything else.” Dari admits they sometimes feel anxious about her vulnerability, but they remain optimistic. With only about 250 known cases of pentalogy of Cantrell worldwide, Virsavia continues to inspire by living fully.
