On what seemed like a normal Monday night, a fire tore through a family home and claimed the life of nine-year-old Sofia — a joyful, loving, and energetic child whose life ended far too soon. A Fire That Became a Deadly Trap.  The fire broke out late in the evening, around 11:00 PM, in the attic of a two-family house. Sofia and her 14-year-old brother had their bedrooms in the attic, just above where their parents slept on the lower floor. According to emergency services and eyewitness accounts, the fire spread rapidly through the upper levels of the house, cutting off escape routes almost instantly. Sofia’s older brother was the first to notice the smell of smoke and the flicker of flames. Realizing the danger, he ran to the first floor to alert his parents.
