A teenage fight in Puerto Rico turned into a tragedy that shocked the entire community. Sixteen-year-old Gabriela Nicole Pratts Rosario was brutally killed in front of her mother, Lisandra, after stepping in to defend her sister during a dispute on August 10 in Aibonito.

According to the investigation, Gabriela was attacked with a sharp object by 40-year-old Elvia Cabrera Rivera and her 17-year-old daughter, Anthonieshka Avilés Cabrera—who was once Gabriela’s close friend.

Gabriela suffered eight stab wounds, while a friend who tried to help was also seriously injured. Authorities arrested the mother and daughter shortly after, charging them with first-degree murder.

Both face a $1 million bail, and Anthonieshka will be tried as an adult due to the severity of the crime. Prosecutors emphasized the act was intentional and supported by strong forensic evidence.

Gabriela, who dreamed of becoming a psychologist, was remembered as kind-hearted and full of life. Her funeral gathered hundreds of people, where her grieving mother cried out for justice. The case has sparked nationwide outrage in Puerto Rico, with many demanding accountability and tougher action against youth violence.
